It was such an honor being a part of Africa’s grandest and prestigious annual polo tournament Africa Polo Open @africapoloopen in a very competitive and strong team ‘”Princess Nandi” of such skilful ladies that played in the exhibition match for the South Africa Vs Nigeria match.
Former Prince of Wales Cup bridged the cap and ways to rejuvenate the interest of the sport with the humorous Jamie.
This entire show could only be pulled off by the very capable @Mr.Concierge, thank you for such a comfortable and wonderful time at the luxurious @fsjohannessburg and at the scenic RosefieldPoloclub, Centurion that overlooks the picturesque Maglalies Mountain, the oldest mountain the world..
My major highlight was meeting my role model @neku-atawodi-edun, a dream come too soon, the first female black professional polo player in the world couldn’t get any chill and real, humility is an understatement in relation to her, you’d think one that has ‘arrived’ wouldn’t greet just about anyone. She is a star; indeed she does wear her crown well. Spending so much time with you in the car, @inandapoloclub, gym, and the hotel in general was just splendid.
Our captain Jossie Spilsburg, you are a hardworking gem, giving in your time @EastRandPoloClub and also mounting me on Jimmy, Anna, Matilda and Chic. These horses were machines; to be honest they were a bit fast for me so I am glad I kept tight on that saddle. I continue to find the polo community to be one of the most welcoming and encouraging sporting communities, such an act of true horsemanship.
Playing with you girls @Leeannspark, @Rene and @Jossie @iz_kelsey invoked a sense of sisterhood I never experienced in the sport, your strategy, coordination largely contributed to our win, not forgetting the much needed skill you have acquired from polocrosse. Let’s do it again.
The event sponsors you out did yourselves @RoyaleSalute, @samsungnote9, @Stanbicbank, @bet.africa, SAPoloAssociation, @monatecoffee thank you for that coffee, it worked wonders. Ladies polo is one fastest growing sport and we thank you for supporting it
For @Carolmbabazi, you are amazing at giving moral support, from the time you learned I was playing in Jo’burg, being the girl behind the camera, you are the real MVP in this. @fredaisingoma, thank you for being that Ugandan family in the crowd that wasn’t afraid to stand out. #heritageday everyday.
The crowd was full of very fashionable fans (you know yourselves) aficionados of the polo lifestyle, business people, the sport is clearly synonymous with Fashion, the number one reason I was intrigued, luxury and these attendees didn’t disappoint @ninellara, @adrianvelaers @mpotseng-bentley, @kenn.davis, @lebolukewarm, @sibo_the_Zulu and @nyamekala thanx.
I express my sentiment of gratitude to my dear mother, without whom I am meaningless, who continues to sacrifice selflessly only for me to achieve my dreams. I love you. To all my family @Ntambiko @kakiranilepoloclub @UgandaPoloAssociiation, @uniorkamya @nyinahentie @panda and @Spencerjr that believed in me, thank you, everyone needs people like you in their lives.
When I am Minister of Foreign Affairs, I will work on policies that support sports individuals and teams to make it out there and make Uganda great again acquire visas within 2 working days. Real talk though, nothing comes easy, it has taken a lot of sacrifice but it shouldn’t take five working days to get a SA visa.
Rukundo egumeho!
